Hello and Welcome to my website, ‘The Swan Doctor’ aka Dr Ruth Miller-Anderson, but please just call me Ruth.
I’m a success coach, blogger, inspirational speaker, pharmacist and project manager, living with my newfound soul mate, beautiful daughter, mother and three dogs (Salah, Suzy and Stella) in the picturesque, and thankfully much more peaceful, country of Northern Ireland. At the time of writing this I can honestly say I am the happiest I have been in many years and regard myself as very fortunate and blessed.
It wasn’t always like this though. Just a few years ago I went through a difficult divorce, faced financial ruin and did not know how I was going to get through another day. I was in the wrong place, and at the wrong time. I got through this horrendous period with the help and support of family, friends and also my life coach (whom I also consider to be a wonderful friend). My life coach introduced me to skills and an outlook on life that I had never encountered before. Undoubtedly, the tools I used to cope got me through difficult times….and I emerged from this period a much stronger person.
Throughout the years I have always been fortunate to be successful in my chosen career, and at times, my work-life balance has become a bit ‘wonky.’ Needless to say, my health usually suffers. One of the first exercises my life coach did with me was to complete the ‘wheel of life.’ She could see that I used my career as my crutch to cope, and then everything else in my life became neglected. What a wonky wheel I completed that day! I was unhappy with so many areas of my life and needed to find direction to put that right. Since then, I have gone on to read about and study personal development, and implement many of the strategies, tools and life skills to ensure I stay on my road to happiness and achieve my desired goals. I have learned a lot through having to cope with many of the challenges life has thrown onto my path and my aim now is, via blogging and coaching, to also help you find inner peace, beat your perceived obstacles and achieve your long-held life goals.
That is where The Swan Doctor comes in.
Are you a swan? What I mean is ‘Are you appearing to glide through life looking graceful and totally in control, but underneath you are paddling like hell?’ I’m known for always being immaculately dressed with the make-up in place and, truthfully, when I was going through difficult times, my appearance became my ‘mask.’
Now, I do these things because I enjoy fashion and having a good self-image. Feeling good on the inside (mentally) and looking great on the outside (physically). That’s not always easy when you are a multi-tasking swan by nature! Some say ‘Don’t be a swan’ or ‘Don’t be a duck!’ It’s hard to decide whether it is a good thing or not. Regardless, I’m here to share my experiences with you and to direct you to the resources which will release your full potential so as to help you on your journey through life. It’s a never-ending journey, and it won’t always be smooth, but I invite you to join me in becoming a very graceful and content professional swan.
